Water Well Bagungi Journey To Clean Water: The Well That Transformed Our Community.
The community of Bagungi has been working hard to prepare our land, aiming to cultivate the best crops safe to eat thanks to clean water. In our ongoing effort to secure reliable access to water, we initially dug a well and, due to the terrain, placed the water tank on top of a termite mound the highest point available to utilize gravity for water distribution. This system served us for a time, but as the termite mound began to deteriorate, it became clear that a more stable solution was needed.
Determined to find a lasting solution, the 7 Blessings Project Foundation took on the challenge of raising funds. Through bottle drives, garage sales, and selling homemade food, they worked tirelessly to support our communitys water needs.
During this trip, we constructed a steel elevated stand to replace the weakening termite mound, ensuring a stronger, more reliable system. Additionally, we built a second platform to accommodate an extra tank in the future, allowing for expanded water storage to meet the growing needs of the community.
Water the most vital resource of all now free-flowing, clean, and accessible. This well not only meets the needs of Bagungi but also serves surrounding villages.
With access to clean water, we have also seen a decrease in stomach issues such as diarrhea, improving the overall health and well-being of our people.
To ensure the well remains functional and the water stays safe, we clean the tank and water lines every three months. However, steady funding is needed to cover ongoing maintenance costs, including repairs and routine upkeep. Continued support will allow us to keep this essential water source running for years to come.
Thanks to the hard work of our people and the dedication of the 7 Blessings Project Foundation, Bagungi now has a sustainable, life-giving water source—one that strengthens our resilience, secures our future, and empowers generations to come.
