Bread & Hope: Empowering Widows Through Small Business!

At 7 Blessings Project Foundation, we believe that true change happens when people are given not just aid, but the tools and opportunities to create their own path forward. This month, our team in Kinshasa took another step toward that vision by helping 15 widows start their own bread-selling businesses.

These women, each with families to feed and no steady income, were carefully selected for their determination and need. Partnering with a local bakery, we provided each widow with a basket containing 27 fresh loaves of bread. Each loaf sells for just $0.50 USD, making it affordable for their customers while still offering a meaningful profit for the seller.

The best part? The foundation covers the cost of the bread baskets, which means every dollar earned from sales goes straight into the widow’s hands. This income allows them to buy food for their children, meet urgent needs, and have enough left to return to the bakery the next day, purchase another basket, and continue building their business.

This project is more than just bread — it’s about dignity, independence, and hope. It’s about mothers being able to feed their children without relying solely on handouts. It’s about women knowing they have the power to provide for themselves and their families.
