The Second Cassava Harvest: Hard WORK , Growth And Hope!

This past week, our supervisor, managers, and workers, along with some of our widows, worked tirelessly to complete our second cassava harvest. Their dedication was not only seen in the fields but also in the careful processing of the harvest. From stripping the cassava leaves off the branches to stacking and wrapping them for the market, every step required patience and teamwork.

The harvest was lush, with the cassava plants thriving in the rich soil, their brilliant green leaves a testament to the care and dedication poured into the land. These leaves, highly valued for their nutritional benefits, will be sold at the market, providing both sustenance and income for our community. To ensure the leaves remain fresh, the team must be up before dawn, loading the truck and leaving by 4:00 AM—a crucial step in preventing the intense heat from causing them to wilt before they reach the market.

We still have one more cassava leaf harvest before we move on to harvesting the manioc roots. These roots will be an essential food source, and once we have the necessary equipment, we plan to process them further to maximize their use. For now, each harvest strengthens our ability to support the widows, children, and families who rely on this food.

Every harvest brings us closer to a future where no one in our village has to worry about their next meal. The hard work of our team—both in the fields and in the preparation process—ensures that this vision continues to grow stronger with each season.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who plays a role in making these harvests possible. Whether planting, harvesting, preparing, or selling, every effort contributes to a greater purpose: sustaining our community and creating lasting change.

Stay tuned for updates on our final cassava leaf harvest and the highly anticipated manioc harvest. Together, we are building something lasting—one harvest at a time.
